International Accreditation Achieved

During the Annual Center for Public Safety Excellence conference on March 21, 2017, staff from Red, White and Blue testified before the Accreditation Commission and were successful in achieving the Internationally Accredited Status for the Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District.  The District is only 1 of 236 agencies worldwide to receive this accolade and is the only accredited agency in Summit County.  The accredited status is valid for 5 years.

"It was noticed by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International that our agency is top notch, with an extreme level of dedication and support from all levels of the organization," stated Battalion Chief Ryan Roberts.

Accreditation is a comprehensive self-assessment and quality improvement model that enables organizations to examine past, current, and future service levels and internal performance and compare them to current research and industry best practices. This process leads to a more efficient and effective emergency service organization.

The Accreditation Program, administered by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, allows fire and emergency service agencies to compare their performance to:

  • Determine community risk and safety needs and develop community-specific Standards of Cover.
  • Evaluate the performance of the department.
  • Establish a method for achieving continuous organizational improvement.

Local government executives face increasing pressure to "do more with less" and justify their expenditures by demonstrating a direct link to improved or expanded services. Particularly for emergency services, local officials need criteria to assess professional performance and efficiency.  The Commission on Fire Accreditation International accreditation process provides a well-defined, internationally-recognized benchmark system to measure the quality of fire and emergency services.
